• The Breet Report – Airport Security and Boats

Long time ago, I finally got to fly on an airplane. The experience was terrific, because I went right to sleep each of the four times flying. Yes, I was probably one of the people snoring so loud that the in-flight video was welcomed, since it would mean the use of head phones. With that said…

The news article Confusion in Europe after US demands more security, by Gregory Katz, Associated Press Writer, January 4, 2010, raises this thought, what about going back to transportation’s like boats? As insensitive as this may sound, wouldn’t it just be easier to screen passengers, load them up in the boats/cruiser ships, and enjoy a nice jaunt across the waters, without the fear of falling out of the sky? See…this might be insensitive; however, it makes sense, and is a logical question.

The line of thinking goes like this, at least with a boat – there are lifeboats. The backup comes from the rapid response time from the coast guard(s) should an accident, or heave forbid a fire or otherwise happen. Why not be on a boat?

The benefits of using boats would increase profits across the board in all manners, not to mention an extension of vacation time. The profit aspect would be tremendous for countries – if we stopped to think about this and what else do we have to get to and fro. Hey, look, an employment idea, benefits, working out on the sea, really being able to screen individuals, and not fearing the luggage being lost in another belly of a plane.

Another benefit about going back to increasing boats on the ocean…at least on a boat there would be place one could walk around, play some games, view a sun/sunset or two, and not be all cramped into a little space like on a plane. Frankly, since the majority of people sit for too long nowadays, and more individuals are noticing the throbbing numbness due to lack of circulation in the legs, seems like it would just be better.

The airplanes would be benefited as well – yup. Most of the airplanes/airlines have already admitted that fleets need to be upgraded. This would be a good time to do accomplish this task should boats be used more, airplanes would not be lacking proper upgrades, not just maintenance. In other words, the whole idea is the balancing act of people traveling, while still making profits, upgrades, and getting the flights inside the country (protocols and procedures – now) straight. Proper training – umm – smooth operations, what a great idea; although, there is bound to be an argument somewhere to trash the whole concept of using all modern transportation, with cool upgrades.
