This is a topic that is still taboo to talk about – poverty. The idea of being independent, as in growing ones own food (etc.), has not been in the face of the public for a long time. (Big push/talk in the 90’s about the homeless/hungry…then nothing.) The winter is just starting to gear up across the states, and harsh winter months are still ahead for many folks. Since the bottom line is showing deafness to the public – going true grassroots – seems to be a good solution; however, the first steps have to be taken to get through winter. Donate a can of food to the food bank. Do what you can without hurting your own family…
