The winter blues seem to keep coming up in the news. What are the winter blues? The winter blues are a time of year when the body is recognizing the lack of sun light, natural light, not entering the body. When the body starts to recognize this, the ‘winter blues’ start playing on the body. Yup, that’s right, the human body is one big magnetic – pulling our little bums out for a play on the beaches, parks, or just walking during the warmer weather, to boost the system.

Many studies have been done on the subject of winter blues. I believe it was 60 Minutes, years ago when I was a kid, that did a whole piece about winter blues. I remember the piece was about a woman who, after years of taking medication, was up to her eyeballs in feeling depressed, almost gave up till the doctor sent her to somewhere else for help/treatment. (I say treatment now, because I’m all grown up. Ha!) The treatment, light!

The woman was told, or given, the prescription of sitting in front of a specific kind of artificial light, for a certain amount of time during the day. The only picture/image I can remember in my head, from the broadcast, was the back of her head sitting in front, about a foot, maybe two feet from the light, reading her morning paper. The results for the woman feeling better came shortly there after…like a less than a month, I think. (This was a long time ago, and I was a kid.) Of course, with all good attempts at cures, medication or natural, things take time for the body to adjust. Why??

The body is ORGANIC. The body is just a big magnetic pulley that reacts to things around each person, and what is eaten/absorbed. Learning this years ago has helped in staying as healthy as possible, because life has not one guarantee. Now, let’s ask a few questions….

How does the body feel after sitting in the sun for a while? Be it on the beach, in a room, by a window at a restaurant…OOO..How does the body feel if you walk into some business that is dark and “moody?” This is a very simple (non-harmful) self-experiment to see if the winter blues are hitting the body, and answering a different question – How do you feel? (Not that this substitutes the help of a doctor should be seeking a doctor.)

Now…to further this along, because the noggin is not letting me move on just yet…a better question/example that kind of ties into this aspect of sunlight…

How safe is the air we breathe once we take into account everything done everywhere? The winds are known to travel the globe – so it would only stand to reason that if something is bad, or discovered to be bad, is sprayed/dropped/pumped into any area on the globe, there is going to be some kind of bodily effect somewhere, and on all species. This is a good example of dare I say, an aspect of the chaos theory. Just stop to think for a second, take what you know personally…breathe, see makes sense once we stop long enough to really looked at this quite (possibly already) provable theory. With that…back to the comment earlier about nothing guaranteed in life.

If people are still looking for guarantee’s in life, look no further than what you already have for free – the body. This is a marvelous piece of machinery, to say the least. The ability to think, love, create, reason, absorb, to do, and/or interact with others – that are here enjoying the only damn guarantee of life, and this is living. The body reacts to lack of light by making us depressed (the winter blues), and then the oxygen taken in to continue to give life, or another form of being able to absorb the things around… kind of neat to think of damn whatelse...
