• The Breet Report – It Is Friday, And The Billion(s) Dollar Question Of The Week Was Not Answered

The economic downturn has lead to unprecedented amounts of money funneled into “too big to fail” risks. Deals are done between Washington and Wall Street, but no one knows what the full deals are or what the impact of the deals will be when it comes to citizens. (That was inaccurate – bonuses. No, there is no way for a citizen to know that the deals have not changed.) Here is the BILLION(S) DOLLAR question –

“Why hasn’t the government opened their books to show what they own now, since these deals/bailouts have happened?” That question was asked earlier this week, and there has been little success in find the article again. (Might have been under Bloomberg.com) Um – and no one else jumped up this week to peruse this question.

Citizens have a right to know what the government owns, because well, those are our tax dollars and (supposedly) government officials work for us – the common fellow on Main Street. The indication at this point is America has turned into the ‘Great American Yard Sale’ (Times, 2008).

    Back to Wall Street…..

Wonder if Wall Street was tired of not being as famous as Hollywood actors at this point? With the hearings and media coverage that goes on now, it‘s like a who‘s who. Spot light much guys??

Since the common citizen does not get answers (to the questions that get overlooked) — What is the bigger thing, being hidden? What is it that the common citizen is being distracted from next? What is the next Ace up the sleeve? This is the only logical conclusion that can come from – “too big to fail” motto.

***Side Note*** There will be more environmental pieces here again – soon. Apparently, there is talk about removing the polar bears from the endangered species list.  That was reported on Bloomberg.com (under the environment section), by Tina Seeley, October 22, 2009.  Makes for a – “whaaa?”

  • The Breet Report – What Is Happening To Our Schools Now?

Knowledge is important — on any level.  What one person brings to a group is sometimes that spark of life that has been needed, for anything.  While that statement can and does, go in both directions (meaning good and bad), knowledge is found in education.

    An Opinion –

Free education is something of a misnomer nowadays, and most parents in the United States would agree with that statement.

Free education means no dues to pay to get …..
Free education means learning from those that took that leap to teach the youth different subjects of knowledge.

Frankly, the closure of schools (in Hawaii, see source 1.) due to recession, should be the final straw for most adults.  Not based off the fact that children will have to have a baby sitter, but because children are being dumbed-down.

The priorities in the United States keep getting messed up.

First, teachers suffer cut backs, layoffs, and reduced pay.
This has been a drama for a number of years.

Second, teachers are treated as a baby-sitter.  Before the rally cries tear up my comments, keep in mind how “happy” most are when school starts up in the fall.  (Tragic.)

Third, teachers in some locations have a hard time communicating effectively with some students due to societal standards.  Another let’s face it moment, we still treat certain areas in the country as if they are of a lower class, and label them in that fashion.  Racism is not gone, just in a different form. How rude.

    Last part of the opinion

People  are entitled to their opinion about how schools should be run, or what should be taught, or what the pay is for teachers; however, every single state (in the United States) should have been more focused on education instead of letting it rot.

Recession, depression, or even economic downturn (more labels), should not affect the children.  Poor planning on your part, does not mean, abuse the children in this mental fashion.

One Small Voice in the Crowd of Hungry Dogs — A Solution — An Unthinkable Solution

Make the difference and start gearing the states towards sustainability.  (Work together. That is smarter, not harder.) Take a page from Utah – shut the government system down for a day.  Look at the data and do the same. Cut out the pet projects. Move to eco-friendly standards of energy – quit being a hold out. Starting small has to start somewhere. The world is FULL of sustainable movements, treatments, technology (solar panels, etc.) and so much – that there is no reason to keep holding out, cutting pay, and (now) punishing children.

Keep the kids in school for an education.  You are going to get old one day —-

  • The Breet Report – Shaping of Culture

The entire global community has culture.  Granted, there are cultures have been wiped off the face of the planet or dying currently, but the history of those extinct cultures still shape the globe.  Within the current and known varieties of culture, there have been societal changes to make room for the new “it.” This happens all the time and from around the world in all forms; therefore, environmental issues are heading to the forefront.  It is the environment that creates the new “it.

    Delicate

The planet does rely on a balance, and we have disrupted the planet to a point that it may not be able to recover.  Continuing to ignore the proven facts of ALL environmental concerns, will leave our only planet as a desert.  The generations of life, all species, will know the effects of our poor decisions in not doing anything.

    Government Solution

The governments are not able to agree with each other on one iota of a solution to anything. The sugar coating takes place everywhere because frankly, they still have not gotten the hint of working together, WITHOUT SELLING OUT.  Money is not the end all, be all.  (Notice how more people are happy in the economic downturn? Well, the reports stopped flooding the news and people are wondering why their government is not “doing anything.”  Seems odd, doesn‘t?)  Money is not going to save the environment, we – people of the planet -  will be the ones to make the changes for the environment.  That the quality of life depends on each of us to do the right thing or at least mend the over harvesting of the planet.  (There is no way to replace what has been striped or siphoned. For example, water.)

    Consequences

The consequences that could take place will test each of us and rattle our core.  Notice that the consequences of environmental inaction are not being discussed?

If people could try to accept the proven (or at least examine the) evidence, without having the news tell them a perspective, the consequences would take shape.  In other words, the economic downturn would be small potatoes; thus cultures would change easily and for the betterment.

    * Hint of possible consequences. Yes, these are the extremes, but not unthinkable and hinted at in the regular news already.
    Food Shortages/Global Starvation
    Water Wars
    Deserts
Then plain War – to continue taking from each other.
