Here in the United States, after Congress takes a holiday break, a proposition is going to be made for $50 billion dollars to be injected into the system for jobs, and keeping some infrastructures afloat. Wonderful, right? I would have thought so too… till I read the article.

While the facts are the facts, and nowhere near lost on me or others, one area that they are going to want to attempt an allotment of the money is completely bogus. (My opinion only.)  Apparently, Congress would like to help the states out with unemployment money/payments. All well in good, but uh, people need to have an incentive to get out and find a job again. Solution: Allow small businesses to thrive in local areas to build up the base for collecting more money. (Heaven forbid a little person like me – trying to understand this complicated information. Yeah, the whole concept of ma and pa stores is horrible…)

While people are unemployed the states gain losses on the many existing avenues to make money. If people are not working, there is no way for the state to have the deduction from the taxes, or other areas. However, the states gain money from people working when they earn a paycheck, not to mention any new law that goes into effect for additional revenue. That is about as simple as it can be without going into the whole grandeur of it.

With this concept that Congress is thinking of putting forward, it will not behoove the unemployed people to go out to find gainful employment. Nope. I see people everyday playing chicken in the middle of the busy street, at or around, 10 A.M. – literally. The ol’ “please hit me, because I will sue you” act. Paying people to stay at home, gaining an unemployment check is not a good idea. Why? Other than the above havoc…there is no gain to this at all for a state, or a person.

Examining the article…it appears that Congress is going to allow an allotment of money to small businesses. That’s great, but not enough to deal with the hot water some (if not all) small businesses appear to be fast approaching. Between laws of all kinds and banks not lending to anyone (for various reasons), small businesses are choking and dying. (It would not surprise me to see many small businesses have to close here soon.)

From this observers perspective and opinion, inject the money to every existing small business, perhaps even make the funds available for new small businesses to start. Another tiny observation…try to leave off all the strings that come attached. As I have been told before, less is more.  That is a concept, eh?

At least twice a year, college people and degrees getting a closer look…Oh, boy.

The first article came during the summer months and was produced in Britain.  It was to the effect of a lot of smart people earning their degrees; however, there were no jobs to give them effective employment.  It was more than that though…

The college basically observed that most of the graduates are so smart there could not possibly be a job for them.  Now, if those people are that dang smart, why are they not the ones in the political arenas cleaning up the old ways of thinking? Progress has always been based off of new ideas that work with old ideas, to give way to the new and improved.

Right now, the price tag for going off to college is through the roof.  The reports come out yearly about how much it will cost to go memorize data, write up papers (professors may or may not agree with), and suffer sleep deprivation. (Let us face reality, college is not what it was like when grandma & grandpa, or our parents went…) The supposed gray area coming from employers is a concern about the lack of work experience.  Really? Seriously? So, it is coming down to not giving them experience at all?  The running joke then seems to be <drum roll> keeping them in college to get more money.  Yup, the professional college student.  Doesn’t that seem twisted?

While experience is necessary (and it is necessary), this is a load of crap for all over those in college.  The business world has the appearance of consolidating all major corporations, and banks are too stingy to give up on venture capital to allow the college kids to start up small businesses.  See, a load of crap.  The other obvious appearance for those college kids… there is a drive to do more and be more, hence they made the choice to achieve “a piece of paper” saying they have at least half a brain.  Just doesn’t seem right…

    Experience, Experience, Experience

The whole lot of us know that experience is reviewed during the consideration for an interview.  When a person lacks experience, nine times out of ten, they will be shuffled over to the next applicant.  Depressing for them, good for the employer. Experience is needed for “the real world” work, because all jobs require balancing day-to-day operations.

Those operations (especially, for small businesses) come down to stocking, meetings with shipment guys, employees calling out, appearance of a store/cleaning, addressing customer issues (in person/on the phone) and a large number of other daily activities.  In order to call it a day and/or have a productive day, those operations need to be done.  That is why experience is necessary.

How do I know?  My experience comes from (past) experience of people not “fitting” into a job, or even having the desire to not do a job to the fullest completion.  To be clearer too, it was not a lot of people that fell into that – HOWEVER – it had a pattern.

If a college kid had experience working in any job, they would make the effort “to do” what they were hired for…but the flip side to it came to.. If they had no work history, they did the bare minimum, if anything, to just collect a check. That would leave the work for others (normally without the degree) to clean up the uncompleted tasks of day-to-day operations.  Annoying?  You bet.  Was it worth the annoyance after while, yes.  This maybe considered “hand-holding,” and perhaps those that use this term are right; however, after a few months some turned out to be a great addition to the team.  It was just a matter of doing what use to be done…giving someone a chance.  (To the boss men, who happens to read this from time-to-time, my thanks to you.)

    Final Thought

People are motivated to be more and do more; thus, it takes someone to say that all important line, “okay, I’ll give you a chance.” – Remember that, and then remember those that gave you a chance. -

There has always been, and will always be, a drive in people to achieve more.  I have to admit sometimes, it is not for the good of the people, but there is a drive.  That drive is more than a state of mind.  It is more than a gut feeling.  It is more than the concept of driving sheep or cattle.  It is a part of the body that cannot be tamed even if not unleashed fully.  That drive, that motivation, is what got people in history to achieve the greatest inventions of mankind.  Eventually, the wave of college kids being dumped on right now are going to figure out a way to bypass the crap, and achieve their human spirit.

There are a lot of small businesses that want to provide job security to their employees.  Job security boosts the economy and makes people “happy go lucky,” pushing any company forward in the markets – a competitor.  The mounting issues many small businesses are facing now is a what is commonly known as a monopoly to push the small businesses out of existence. Well, why not?

Small businesses are competitors.  Slice it, dice it, and rip it apart – small businesses have what huge corporations don’t have and that is home grown competitors doing a better job with customer service, productivity, and beating the socks off competitors.  The data has been around for years.  How to get rid of competitors?  Rise the rates to everything that made them a thorn in the sides…

“Across the country, businesses already strapped by the economy to turn a profit are sacrificing or scaling back employee health insurance plans because of escalating costs.  The crunch has particularly socked smaller employers, who have become a centerpiece in the debate over how to overhaul the nation’s health care system.” - source 1 below -

The people that have constructed the markets have chocked out the ma and pa stores.  Ma and pa stores come in many forms, but by golly – they are the ones with the really neat stuff.  Is it pricey?  Yeah, because they are going out in the trenches to the trade shows to find these things.  When anyone travels to the big retailers, all one gets is the same stuff.  Everyone looks and dresses the same! Agh! What happened to original?  Geesh.

The life blood of what built this nation, all of the ma an pa stores, has its place in America.  The shenanigans that have chocked therefore closed so many doors – should remember one thing – YOU KICKED THEIR BUTTS! Ha!  Small businesses took money from the big fish and now the big fish decided – “let’s make silly stipulations to kill and conform everybody.”

    What can anyone do?

Do what I do – travel and seek out the nearest ma and pa run business.  Is it expensive? Sometimes it is, and sometimes it isn’t, overall it is very much worth it.  Not only does one keep being original, this supports the local community is so many ways and that is what killed the competitors.  The taxes small businesses pay actually go back to that local area! The graphic charts from earlier this year prove it, and Texas has done their homework to provide (and prove) that tid-bit.

Buy local from your ma and pa store. Travel to a farmers market.  Be a contender with them if anyone really does not like the legislation for the tweaking economic times.  Score!
