Well, I know the article that was recently written about New York City has made it to the recycling bin, of all things to recycle - because why? – Damn, I haven’t seen it but one time. So, I am glad I emailed it to myself. Hee hee —
Does anyone remember when the morning personality on NBC that gave the extremely harsh critique on the movie – The Day After Tomorrow -stars Dennis Quaid -?? Ummmmm….?? (haha – I’m so smirking about this and we’ll get to that in a minute.)
A very simple theory, that is not out of the realm of possibility, (because in science you have to think outside da box) talked about the salt and fresh water mix interrupting the WORLD currents. Hasn’t happened since the last ice age. A mix like that is happening already – but not stopped the currents – yet. Increased melting can cause harm. It is one that the human race has never known. (We will probably have to reap what we sow on this one — eek.)
Okay, the mayor wants to know how “well prepared” New York is if the water level rises. This is just the first paragraph: ”Flooded subways. Bridges deteriorating in the hot sun. Rising seas nipping at the edges of Manhattan. Those scenarios are up for review by a panel of scientists, government officials and private sector representatives studying how the city’s infrastructure will hold up to climate change.” Well — WORLD — get ready to put your boxing gloves on — because guess what — it is happening. Ha!

Let’s examine facts – and these are facts! In Alaska – the government is (trying to) moving Eskimo settlements - from ISLANDS – due to? Anyone? Anyone? Rising sea levels. The issue there, last time I checked on it/searched for it, was people couldn’t agree where on the mainland they wanted to try and maintain their way of life. That is not surprising. You know you are drowning and yet you squabble. Do you see rats squabbling? No. They jump ship.
Now, there was another article put out the same day about (??) the dead zones in the oceans. It has been discussed and analyzed out the wahzoo, yet no action has been taken to MAKE companies STOP polluting the WATER. Any water. They have made it voluntary to cut back. And surprise!!! Ta-da!! They have not. This is a contributing factor. Build up. Everything is a build up – till the impossible happens – the one thing no one thought of. Now that one thing is always different – because —- how bad was it out of wack? (Science: Think outside the box. Big world, and we are little people on it.) Please tell me someone, is anyone seeing the continuous patterns rising?? Please. Proof has been given over the last couple of decades - of the theories that are becoming facts.
Are we that arrogant and ignorant that we just run it to the end? (Say “Yes, Breet.”)
We are on a planet. We do not even go to the moon. And, we do not live in the Star Trek/Star Wars world, where we travel huge spaceships to leave our overpopulated/over-mined world – to scavenge the next.
Waiting till the last minute will be devastating. Conscious effort to MAKE the clean ups happen – needs to take place. Since we, as a race, can pull together during any natural or man-made disaster, let us try to avert one.
I like eating my shrimp. I like seeing little islands. I love me some diversity (New York).
And see I bet you are asking yourself – “How can I do?” – “Who am I going to tell? They’ll think I’m a faery or worse!” – Narrow minded, wake up!
If one person – just one – sees you. You – yourself – just might inspire him or her to remove themselves from the car or sofa and go help you pick up some trash or whatever the heck you are doing to improve where it is you live.
If one person – just one – will say, “I’m not going to use so many lights..”, then explain why when your friends come over — you just might inspire.
You, whoever you are, ARE inspiration. These types of articles are going to increase. They have too. The world cannot sustain what it has at the rate we are going, if action and follow through are not done! It just has to be done. Heck, here is one last idea – talk to your representative about a community action plan for once a week. Try.
